1. Van Platforms and Compatibility
What van platforms do you build your models on?
We specialize in the high-roof Ford Transit, 148" wheelbase "long" and "extended" platforms. We have strategically selected the Transit platform because we feel it is the best van on the market in nearly every category.
Do you offer vans with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) suitable for off-roading?
Yes, we can build on Ford Transit models equipped with All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The AWD Transit offers improved traction and handling, making it suitable for varied terrains and light off-roading. Currently, Ford does not offer a factory 4WD Transit, but the AWD system is highly capable for most adventuring needs.
Does the Code 7 bed system work with mid-roof Transits, Sprinters, or other vehicle types like horse floats or trailers?
We offer the Code 7 bed system for both the Medium Roof and High Roof Ford Transit vans. We are also actively working on releasing a Sprinter-compatible design in 2025, with plans to introduce versions for trailers, box trucks, and a universal van design in the future. While the current Code 7 bed systems are specifically designed for Ford Transits, please stay tuned for future updates as we expand our product line to accommodate other vehicles.
Can your vans seat and sleep multiple adults and children?
Yes, our vans can be configured to seat and sleep multiple passengers. We offer options for additional seating with seat belts and sleeping accommodations to suit families or groups. Please discuss your specific needs with us to find the best solution.
2. Financing and Purchasing
Do you offer financing options?
There are several financing options available. Our vans are eligible for either RV financing with 20-year terms or commercial vehicle financing. Each buyer's situation will determine the most appropriate option. We can also assist in getting the cost of the conversion included in the van's financing package.
Do you supply the van chassis, or do I need to supply my own?
While we are not a Ford dealer, we have dealer partners and vans on order that you may reserve for your build. If you prefer to source your own van, we can recommend a local dealer who can help with the ordering process and financing options.
Do you work with dealerships to help source vans that meet specific preferences and budgets?
Yes, we collaborate with dealerships to help you find a van that meets your specific preferences and budget. Our partners can assist with features like color choice, AWD, and other factory options.
Can the cost of the conversion be included in the van's financing package?
Yes, in many cases, the cost of the conversion can be rolled into the financing package for the van purchase. This simplifies payments and may offer better financing terms.
Can you deliver the completed van to other states, and what would that entail?
Yes, we can arrange for delivery of your completed van to your location within the United States. Delivery logistics and costs will depend on your location. Please contact us to discuss the details.
3. Build Process and Timeline
How fast can I get a build completed?
We are proud to offer significantly faster turnaround times than our competition. Once your build begins, we can complete it in just 6–8 days (depending on options).
Are the vans listed available now, or do they represent future builds?
Our listed vans typically represent upcoming builds. Please contact us to check current availability and discuss reserving a build slot.
How long does the conversion process take from ordering to delivery?
The timeline for the entire conversion process can vary depending on factors such as chassis selection, chassis availability, and our current production schedule. On average, the process from ordering to delivery takes 1-4 months. Once your van is secured and your build slot is confirmed, the actual conversion itself typically takes 6-8 days. We recommend reaching out to us for the most up-to-date information on availability and scheduling.
When is the next available production slot, and what are the estimated pickup dates?
Production slots fill up quickly. To find out our next available slot and estimated pickup dates, please contact us or call us at (720) 260-4743.
4. Customization and Options
Can I customize aspects of the build, like installing an air conditioner, adding a folding bench seat, or including an indoor toilet and shower?
While we're not a custom shop, we do offer several popular options and upgrades, such as:
-
Additional bed platforms
-
Additional seating with seat belts
-
Upgraded electrical systems
-
Air conditioning units
-
Hot water systems with indoor/outdoor shower capabilities
We aim to maintain low costs and quick turnarounds, so customizations are limited to ensure efficiency and quality.
What vehicle features are available, such as Apple CarPlay, heated seats, or adaptive cruise control?
When sourcing your van, you can choose from a variety of factory options offered by Ford, including:
-
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
-
Heated seats
-
Adaptive cruise control
-
Upgraded infotainment systems
We can help coordinate with dealers to ensure your van includes the desired features.
Can I purchase individual components like the Code 7 bed system for self-installation?
Yes! Our CODE 7 Gear line offers high-quality camper van products available to the DIY community. You can purchase the Code 7 bed system and other components at code7gear.com.
What if I want to add something later?
Our conversions are designed to be modular and accessible. Components can be easily removed or added using hand tools, allowing for future upgrades or modifications.
5. Interior Features and Amenities
What size is the mattress?
Our vans come standard with a mattress that is as wide as a Queen (60") and as long as a Full (75"). The mattress is comprised of two independent sides that can be used individually or together to accommodate numerous configurations.
What is the interior ceiling height inside?
The ceiling is 6'5" from the finished floor, providing ample standing room for most people.
Do any of your van models have toilets?
We do not integrate permanent fixed toilets into our builds, as we find portable toilets offer better versatility and ease of service. The Thetford 345 is our recommended portable cassette toilet, and the passenger-side utility bench is designed to accommodate its storage and use.
Do your vans have showers?
Yes, we can install a hot water heater along with a spray port and a 15-ft extended spray hose, usable for rinsing or showering inside or outside the van. While our vans don't have a dedicated shower stall, we offer a curtain system that works well with our setup.
Are your vans suitable for winter use?
Absolutely! Our vans are insulated and are equipped with heating systems suitable for winter conditions. We use high-quality insulation materials to ensure comfort in various climates.
Do you offer solar power options?
Yes, we offer solar power systems that can be customized to your energy needs, allowing for off-grid capabilities.
6. Bed System Details
Why are the corners of the bed platforms angled instead of square?
The corner reliefs on the platforms allow for occupant pass-through between the galley cabinet and the bed platforms when arranged in a bunk configuration. The platforms are interchangeable between the driver's and passenger's sides, and the corner reliefs also allow occupants to reach the door handle to open the back doors, even when the platforms might otherwise obstruct the handle.
Are the beds noisy and do they rattle while driving?
We've taken steps to minimize any noise:
Dampening vibrations: When stowed vertically, the mattress and bedding stabilize the bed system.
Isolation bumpers: Added at all metal-to-metal contact points to reduce noise.
Secure straps: Each bed platform can be secured with a strap, eliminating movement.
Most customers haven't encountered noise issues, but we understand sensitivity varies and have proactively addressed this.
What are the dimensions of the bed platforms?
Each Paradigm Van Conversion comes with two bed platforms that measure 30" wide x 75" long. Combined at the same height they make an "RV Queen" which is a Queen-width and Full-length mattress (60" wide x 75" long). Additional bed platforms are available for up to 6 people.
7. Vehicle Specifications
How much does the converted van weigh?
The total weight of the converted van varies based on options but generally adds approximately 1,300 lbs to the base vehicle weight. The Ford Transit has ample payload capacity to accommodate this.
What size garage door will my van fit through with the rooftop A/C and vent fan installed?
For a high-roof Ford Transit with a rooftop A/C and vent fan, you’ll need at least a 10-foot garage door. The van will sit at approximately 9 feet 7 inches in height with these additions. Many of our customers install 10-foot doors to comfortably park their vans indoors full-time.
With the conversion, how much extra gear can the van transport, and what is the towing capacity?
Cargo Capacity: There's still plenty of room for additional gear inside the van, thanks to our efficient design and storage solutions.
Towing Capacity: The Ford Transit can tow between 3,800 to 6,500 lbs (varies by model and configuration). The conversion does not significantly impact towing capacity.
What tie-down points are available, and can storage boxes be removed easily?
Our design includes multiple tie-down points for securing cargo.
-
We retain the 6 Ford factory d-rings in the cargo floor
-
There are 6 mounting points at the base of each of the 4 bed columns as well as mounting holes every 9" up the columns
-
The MOLLE panel bed platforms can be used as tie down points and can be configured in a multitude of ways
-
We can also add L-track to the floor for bike mounts etc.
Storage boxes are modular and can be removed easily using hand tools, offering flexibility based on your needs.
8. Shipping and International Availability
Do you ship the Code 7 bed system or other products outside the continental United States, such as to Europe, Australia or Canada?
Currently, our Code 7 bed system is available within the continental USA. We are exploring options to expand international distribution in the future, including Europe and Canada.
Are there plans to expand international distribution or offer universal designs for different vehicles?
Yes, we are actively looking into expanding our product line to be compatible with a wider range of vehicles and to offer international shipping options. Stay tuned for updates!

12. Additional Questions
What kind of insulation do you use?
We use R13 insulation made of hydrophobic glass fibers, providing a high average R-value of 13. This means our insulation effectively keeps the heat in during the winter and maintains a cool interior in the summer, ensuring year-round comfort. The hydrophobic properties resist mold growth and moisture absorption, enhancing durability and preventing issues related to moisture buildup.
Additionally, our insulation is Greenguard certified, meaning it is made without formaldehyde or other harmful chemicals. This certification ensures that our insulation contributes to healthier indoor air quality, making it a safe choice for you and your family.
